Collection Site Pricing
Collection site pricing on AIS is no different than with using Quest ESP or just sending donors to a third party clinic. There are thousands of Collection Sites on AIS among all of those categories and your cost to do the collection will depend on which type of site you choose.
Collection Site Types
There are three types of collection sites on AIS:
Quest Preferred Sites
Sites like Fastest Labs or local drug testing clinics that have signed up to be Quest Preferred. The collection fee is a set amount that is listed on the Labb Pricing Sheet under Quest.
Quest PSC Sites
These sites are owned by Quest and are the same sites that you see around your city with Quest’s sign. They primarily serve medical purposes but also do drug screens. The collection fee is a set amount that is listed on the Labb Pricing Sheet under Quest.
Quest PSC sites are often known for longer wait times and less supportive customer service. But, in more rural locations they might be the only option.
Third Party Sites
All sites that are not Quest Preferred or Quest PSC are Third Party Sites. These sites are not automatically billed. These sites will generally send a bill for a collection fee after the service but might call for a credit card at the time of service. These prices are not set but generally range from $20-$35 per UA collection, with $25 being the most common number.
Best Practices
Donors can certainly go into any location that they choose for a collection. Some might have a Passport for Fastest Labs but walk into a local clinic. Your goal is likely to control two things:
- Service to your client
- Collection site fees
Setting Expectations
The best thing you can do is set expectations with your client and price the contract accordingly.
Here are some suggestions and ways to think about the process based on client types:
Local Client
This is the easiest one. If the client only comes to you, or you are the only nearby Fastest Labs, it is much easier to set expectation that they only use your office. Before AIS, we wouldn’t even bring up other sites, but since they will be listed it is worth letting the client know that they price they have is only for Fastest Labs if that is the case. Keep in mind you can set a default collection site in AIS to help drive traffic to the preferred location.
Regional Client
Perhaps a client only tests in your Metro area, like Denver. It is really easy to set the expectation that, “this passport can be used at any Fastest Labs!” Again, before AIS, we wouldn’t even bring up other sites, but since they will be listed it is worth letting the client know that they price they have is only for Fastest Labs if that is the case. The default collection site might help here too, even if that isn’t your office!
National or Middle-of-Nowhere Client
This is the most likely client that will need to use alternate sites. Best practice is to prepare for it in your contract and set the expectation. You likely know in this case that they will be using alternate sites. That is great! You simply need to prepare for the COGS associated with that. Most simple practice is to find a number you are comfortable with and plan for all collections to be at $25 or more. Then, as they use more Fastest Labs, margins only improve.
Editing Your Contract
In all cases, you can outline these expectations on your contract and add in comments for using non-Fastest Labs sites. Keep in mind that any additions you want to make on the contract can be done on the pricing page on your PandaDoc templates. We have seen a few lines added to agreements before like:
- These fees are only applicable to Fastest Labs locations. Using another site might incur additional charges.
- These fees are for Fastest Labs locations only. Using another site will incur a $15 collection fee.
Fastest Labs Sites on AIS
Quest Preferred is turned off for AIS collections. All collections will be billed at Fastest Labs collection fees amongst offices.
Drug Test Pricing on AIS
Pricing for drug tests on AIS follows the same pricing outlined on the Labb Pricing Sheet under Quest.
