Difference in Rapid test vs Lab-Based

When performing a rapid urine test, we benefit from using the tablet, eliminating the need for a paper CCF. This allows us to work quickly and efficiently, providing negative and non-negative results in a timely manner. Additionally, we have the option to send the rapid urine tests to the lab for further analysis if needed.

Lab testing differs in that Non-Federal CCF’s are involved, which play a significant role in the process. While more detailed, this method allows for greater accuracy, though it does leave some room for error. However, it minimizes the potential for errors with the donor, as it enables a scientist to directly inspect the specimen and provide a definitive result.

Sending Rapids to the Lab

To send a rapid urine test to the lab with Quest, seal the rapid cup with a security seal. Then, place the sealed cup in a Quest bag and prepare it for shipping. To ensure proper shipping, use a Quest air bill.

If you are partnered with Averhealth, you may choose to send the specimen to their lab. The process for sending a rapid cup is similar. LABB will provide unbranded lab bags for packaging the sealed rapid cup. Once packaged, prepare it for shipping using an Averhealth air bill.

Lab testing is available through several trusted laboratories, offering in-depth and complex testing options. The primary labs used by Fastest Labs include:

UltraFlex vs Flex Lab UA

A common question is “Should I use UltraFlex or Flex Lab UA?”

• UltraFlex testing is processed through Averhealth.
• Flex Lab UA is processed through Quest.

When deciding on if you should utilize one lab test or the other, there are two key components:

• Averhealth Set up
• Preference in labs

If you are already set up with Averhealth, using UltraFlex will be a smooth process. However, if you’re not yet set up, additional steps are required, which may delay testing. To begin setup with Averhealth, please contact LABB.

You may occasionally have a preference for a specific lab based on experience or turnaround time. It’s important to find what works best for your Fastest Labs location, but stay open to exploring the benefits other labs may offer.

Specialized Testing

For specialized testing, you will need to contact a specific laboratory to perform the required tests. Fastest Labs utilizes Expertox for all specialized testing.
