DNA Testing Centers, who are they and do you need the Home Office’s permission to collect for them?
A DNA testing center is exactly what it sounds like—a location where donors go to complete a DNA test. As a Fastest Labs location, you are free to establish relationships with various DNA testing centers if you choose. However, please note that corporate will not be able to assist in this process. If you pursue this opportunity, it will be an independent venture, and we wish you success in your journey.
A TPA, or Third Party Administrator, helps Fastest Labs generate additional income and build new connections. While the corporate office encourages the use of TPAs, setting them up and maintaining those relationships is the responsibility of each individual Fastest Labs location. Corporate is not involved in TPA-related matters.
DNA testing centers and TPAs in the drug testing industry operate similarly, acting as intermediaries and competitors in the B2C testing space. Like DISA—though a competitor—we continue to work with them as they provide valuable revenue we might not have otherwise captured.
While the decision to work with them is ultimately yours, we recommend considering some of the valid points raised by your fellow franchisees:
- The Home Office maintains a list of preferred vendors. Since the company would be seeking to become a customer rather than a vendor, there is no need to consult the Home Office before proceeding.
- When there is no pre-established relationship, it’s a good practice to collect payment upfront when working with a new TPA.
- Their customers may occasionally be confused about where to obtain results, which can lead them to visit your location. When considering a partnership with a TPA, it’s important to account for the time spent resolving these misunderstandings.
- you don’t get paid for that!
- Be mindful not to underprice collection services. The Home Office typically charges between $30 and $50 for collecting a DNA sample on behalf of another company.
