What lab do I use?

The choice of lab depends on factors such as the type of test (DOT or non-DOT), the need for SAMHSA-certified labs, random testing programs, testing locations, and other DER requirements. This article outlines the scenarios for B2B and B2C customers and provides clear guidance on which lab to use for each situation.

B2B Customers

  1. Non-DOT Lab-Based Panels, No Random Programs, Fastest Labs Only
    • Scenario: Customers requiring non-DOT lab-based panels, with no need for random testing programs or SAMHSA-certified labs, and testing exclusively at Fastest Labs locations.
    • Lab Choice: Use Averhealth through Lab Fusion.
    • Reason: Averhealth offers cost-effective and streamlined testing for non-DOT panels at Fastest Labs locations, ideal for straightforward testing needs.

  2. SAMHSA-Certified Lab-Based Tests, No Random Programs, Fastest Labs Only
    • Scenario: Customers needing SAMHSA-certified lab-based tests, without random testing programs, and testing only at Fastest Labs locations.
    • Lab Choice: Use Quest through Lab Fusion.
    • Reason: Quest provides SAMHSA-certified testing capabilities, ensuring compliance for clients requiring this certification, but still maintains the simplest of portal environments.

  3. Non-DOT Lab-Based Tests with Random Programs or SAMHSA Requirements, or Testing Outside Fastest Labs
    • Scenario: Customers needing non-DOT lab-based tests that include random testing programs, require SAMHSA certification, or involve testing at locations other than Fastest Labs.
    • Lab Choice: Use Quest through AIS.
    • Reason: Quest through AIS supports random testing programs, SAMHSA-certified testing, and a broader network of testing locations, offering flexibility for diverse needs.

  4. DOT Testing, No Random Programs, Fastest Labs Only, May Include Rapid Tests
    • Scenario: Customers requiring DOT-compliant testing, without random programs, testing only at Fastest Labs, and potentially using rapid tests.
    • Lab Choice: Use Quest through Lab Fusion.
    • Reason: Quest through Lab Fusion ensures DOT compliance but still maintains the simplest of portal environments, and still includes Rapids.

  5. DOT or Non-DOT with Random Programs, Testing Outside Fastest Labs, or Complex Needs
    • Scenario: Customers with DOT or non-DOT testing needs, including random programs, testing at locations beyond Fastest Labs, requiring specific login permission sets, detailed reporting, or serving larger, more sophisticated clients.
    • Lab Choice: Use Quest through AIS.
    • Reason: AIS is designed for complex programs, offering robust reporting, permission management, and a wide network of testing locations, ideal for larger clients.

B2C Customers

For B2C clients, the focus is on simplicity, cost, and flexibility in panel options. The recommended lab for most scenarios is outlined below:

  • General B2C Testing Needs
    • Scenario: Customers requiring lab-based testing, typically non-SAMHSA, with a focus on affordability and streamlined reporting. Testing may include panels such as ETG or Fentanyl.
    • Lab Choice: Use Averhealth through Lab Fusion.
    • Reason: Averhealth offers the best pricing and streamlined reporting for B2C clients. UltraFlex offers a variety of panels, including ETG and Fentanyl, to meet diverse customer needs at the lowest cost.
    • Exception: If a customer specifically requires a SAMHSA-certified lab, consider Quest through Lab Fusion.
