Lab-Based Test (Flex Testing – Labb Passport, No CCF)
1. Greet and Verify
- Greet the donor professionally.
- Ask for the donor’s Labb Passport (most often shown on their phone).
- Request the donor’s photo ID and verify that the information matches what appears on the Labb Passport.
2. Confirm Readiness
- Ask if the donor is ready to test or would like a cup of water before starting.
- Once they confirm they’re ready, proceed with the collection.
3. Move to the Lab Area
- Escort the donor to the lab/testing area.
- Ask for their Labb Passport again so you can scan the barcode using your tablet.
- Let the donor know that all personal belongings (phone, keys, wallet, etc.) must be placed in the locker before testing begins.
4. Hand Hygiene and Consent
- Once the donor has placed their belongings in the locker, instruct them to wash their hands.
- While they are washing their hands, lock the locker for security.
- After they return, have the donor sign on the tablet — confirming their consent to test.
5. Prepare the Collection
- Retrieve a Quest single collection kit for the donor.
- Hand the donor the collection cup, keeping the vial and seal with you until the sample is returned.
- Review the testing instructions with the donor:
- Do not flush the toilet.
- The restroom door may be closed for privacy.
- Do not flush the toilet.
6. Receive and Process the Specimen
- When the donor exits the restroom, put on gloves before taking the sample.
- Check the temperature strip immediately.
- If the temperature is in range, proceed to fill the single vial with the specimen.
- Apply the purple security seal and have the donor sign and date across the seal.
7. Scan and Send to Lab
- Scan the barcode on the seal using your tablet.
- On the tablet, select “Send to Lab.”
- Before sealing, confirm in the Labb dashboard (client’s organization settings) whether the donor’s company uses Quest or Averhealth as their lab provider.
- Place the vial in the appropriate Quest or Averhealth transport bag.
- Seal the bag. (No CCF is needed since this is an electronic chain of custody.)
For out of temperature, insufficient sample, nothing provided, refusal, or any other issue, refer to the Testing Protocol Form for proper documentation and next steps.
8. Finalize and Release Donor
- Unlock the locker so the donor can retrieve their belongings.
- Return their photo ID and let them know they are good to go.
- If the donor asks about results, explain that results will be sent directly to the company.
