Step-by-Step Guide: Rapid Oral Confirmation (Non-Negative)

1. Validate the Non-Negative Result

• If the rapid oral test comes back non-negative, select Validate Test.
  
• Wait the required 3 minutes for validation.
  

2. Confirm Non-Negative Result

• After 3 minutes, review the result again.
  
• If the test is still non-negative, click “Sign & Send.”
  
  • Do NOT click “Send to Lab” for the rapid oral result.
    

3. Begin Confirmation Collection (Omega Paper Chain + Quantisal Kit)

• Immediately collect a confirmation oral fluid sample using:
  
  • Omega paper chain of custody
    
  • Quantisal oral fluid kit
    

4. Collect the Oral Fluid Sample

• Hand the donor the Quantisal swab.
  
• Instruct them to:
  
  • Place the cotton pad in their mouth for 5 minutes
    
  • Do not bite or chew the swab
    
• While the donor is collecting, begin completing the Omega paper chain.
  

5. Seal the Quantisal Specimen

• After 5 minutes, put on gloves.
  
• Take the swab from the donor and place it into the testing tube.
  
• Seal the tube using the provided sticker/seal.
  
• Have the donor initial the seal.
  
• You will date the seal.
  

6. Enter the Confirmation Test in Labb

• On your tablet, locate the correct organization.
  
• Select “Universal Chain.”
  
• Select the appropriate confirmation panel for the oral fluid test.
  
• Follow the prompts on the tablet to complete the collection entry.
  

7. Confirm Collection Upload

• After submission, go to the Labb Dashboard.
  
• You should see the donor listed with a status such as:
  
  • Collection Complete
    
• This is where the confirmation results will upload once processed.
  

8. Educate and Release the Donor

• Let the donor know:
  
  • The specimen has been sent for confirmation testing.
    
  • An MRO may call from an unknown number.
    
  • They should answer the call to verify any prescriptions or medications.
    
• Return the donor’s ID.
  
• Let the donor know they are good to leave.
  

9. Add Notes to Rapid Result

• In the original rapid oral test result entry, add a note stating:
  
  • Results are not finalized — specimen sent for confirmation.
